Abrasion

Wear and tear of products and process equipment can eventually lead to failure. This can be in the internal moving parts of a machine, which cannot easily be seen or reached. A way to discover potential wear as it develops is by 3D X-ray techniques, which operate much like a microscope that also reveal inner structure. As such it can reveal where and how abrasion happens, and possibly point to its mechanism. Such insight may help qualify specific need for improvements – where and how, or even how well a potential solution might work.
