Process optimization

Production efficiency is always a critical factor that should be optimized to realize highest possible output. One example would be the lamination and curing process of plastic layers in laminar (composite) materials. Process optimization can be helped along by 3D X-ray techniques. They offer a “toolbox” to study the structure and integrity of products at the microscopic or molecular level, and how these change with different operating conditions. This is a route to identify unwanted changes, e.g. tendencies towards breakage or faults. Ultimately, the techniques can help achieve ideal processing speeds.
